AVOID EAST BUFFET THEY NOW CHARGE A 12% SERVICE CHARGE AND CHARGE TAX ON THE TIP!
I WENT TO EAST BUFFET AT HUNTINGTON STATION ON RT 110 AND TO MY SURPRISE AND DISMAY I WAS CHARGED A 12% SERVICE CHARGE ON MY MEAL AND TO MY SHOCK WAS CHARGED TAX ON THE TIP AS WELL. I SAID TO THE WAITER LET ME SPEAK TO THE MANAGER , THE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT HIS ATTORNEY SAID ITS O.K. . I SAID ITS NOT . EAST WAS ON STRIKE A WHILE BACK BY THE WORKERS FOR KEEPING THEIR TIPS . I SAY FIND A NEW BUFFET TO DINE AT . THE PLACE IS OVER PRICED AND I LIKE TO TIP WHAT I FELL I SHOULD...END

The food is great but they have a hell of a nerve charging the 12% and the tax on top. I saw several people make the same complaint when i was there a few months back . Its too bad the tips are not going their way but dont take it out on every single customer by adding a service charge and taxing the shit out of them . I would never go there again.

That is BS & illegal. By law you have the right to have them remove the gratuity & tip less,more,or nothing. Even at restaurants where a 18% service charge is added for large parties, you have the right to have it removed if the service was poor.
